Writing Science and Technology

Hello world!

Hello world!

Welcome to my blog! This blog is meant to serve as a writing portfolio, as well as a project to explore my own interests and hobbies. The main topics you can expect to find here will be writing, science, information technology, or cooking related.

Writing

Writing has always been a hobby of mine, but was usually overshadowed by learning technology. I find both topics interesting, but writing is cathartic and comforting to me, while technology is more exciting and sometimes stressful. Out of everything on this list and beyond, writing is what I enjoy the most. Language is the needle sewing the quilt; it connects everyone together. Language is at the center of technical writing; knowing your audience and how to speak to them, in language they understand is what it’s all about. I find technical writing challenging and deeply rewarding. I also enjoy fiction writing as well, as a way to express myself through storytelling.

Science

Science is one of the few topics I feel that I understand very little of – but that’s because it is such a vast field. I have one primary goal in life: to never lose the desire to learn. Science topics help me do that by reading above my understanding and picking up on things over time. My areas of interest mostly include space exploration, NASA programs in general, and Earth sciences like plate tectonics.

Information Technology

As a child, I grew up around computers. With a group of others, we would attempt to get around school security in order to play video games. This dubious past is what made me grow to love technology. Computers made sense to me, where others had trouble grasping them, so I explored that interest and made it into a career. I have over 13 years experience in the IT field, not including all the time spent as a child on them. I enjoy following tech news to stay up to date on some of the latest and greatest technologies, with a focus on computer hardware.

Cooking

I prefer to explore cooking in small doses, and one or two dishes at a time. I often will make the same meal 2-3 times a week just to get better at making the recipe and to figure out any alternative spices or methods to the process. I’ve become very good at creating a few recipes that often become regular meals over time. I make a mean chocolate chip cookie, as well as well as my own bread! My goal when cooking is to create as little dishes as possible, which will be a common theme among any of my recipes.
